THE LIONESS WITHIN

Soothing the lioness inside
She lays awake at night
Looking over all that she is
In her mind a quiet calm eventually

Gently laying down
Embracing the calmness of the night
Entranced by her own tale
She now rolls over playfully

So few ever see her relaxed
Only one does she run with
Today they romp & play
Laying together in the sun

Pawing in play
Snuggled in comfort
Looks exchanged
A knowing from within
Between them they know

With just a contented purr
A nuzzle muzzle to muzzle
They embrace their time so limited
To just be with one another

For too quickly the new day will dawn
Onto their respective pride they will go
Back to taking on their roles
But here in the jungle
They take care of other needs

Finding a kindred soul
A mate of a different kind
Sharing time to remember
Exploring the lioness that still lives within
