HOLDING A KEY

Teaching me without saying a word
Taking notice of your sly ways
Never letting on what was going on
Somehow we shared so much
While learning how to be so open

Finding friendship
Between waters we flow
Allowing the gift of understanding
Finding common ground
Respecting who we were then, who we are now

So strong we each are
Somehow getting through to the other
Without tearing it all down
Believing in one another's will
Sharing the sorrow, celebrating the triumphs

Listening with the heart
Hearing from the depths below
Undivided attention to the woman within
Finding the soul to the human being who we each are
Learning from one another so much, so thoughtfully

Holding a key no one else ever has
Reminding me someone knows how to be
There for me
Such a rarity to find within another
To really see you, to really see me
And all that there is to each other in our unique being
