RELINQUISH

Even within the warmest embrace
Out of the shadows
Surfacing again the ghosts long past
So you thought they had gone

Somehow within your eyes
Still fright to flight
Plays a starring role
Within the timing of day to night

Still one moment at a time
Peace and tranquility get through
Somehow to you I am able
Little by little to calm the child within

So long this battle has raged
Running so close
Then stridently walking away
Longing to know how it would feel
To finally stay long enough to really heal

Learning how to let go of suffering
Without losing control
Yet ultimately you can relinquish
Enough to let another touch
That which you believe is unlovable

Fearing the distant shadows
Running from the reality of yourself
Finding comfort in boring unfilled eyes
So there you can hide away

Yet again one finds the truth calling
Yearning for the warm embrace of real beauty
Eyes that see beyond the child left behind
Arms that hold more than your body
A soul's embrace of acceptance of all you can be
